Cliff victim told to stop partying

THE father of a teenage girl who fell 10 metres to her death from a cliff in Sydney's east says he asked his daughter to "ease up" on partying two months ago.

Cody Dawson, 16, from Redfern, died after suffering serious head injuries when she fell from Dolphins Point, at the northern end of Coogee Beach, about 11.15pm on Friday.

Her distraught father, Robin Armson, said yesterday his "English rose" had been partying and drinking with friends all evening, as she regularly did.

"They'll be drinking like teenagers do, they were 'Bondi girls'. Cody grew up in Bondi," Mr Armson said. "I spoke to her quite a bit about it a couple of months ago to ease up a bit, [saying] 'Dad's really worried', but she's had that many friends she couldn't get grounded for a couple of hours. She was always out or organising something."

Police say they are still investigating the incident, but officers said on Saturday that Cody was standing with another teenager on the poorly-lit cliff top before she fell.

One friend, Sascha Wilson, told Channel Seven that Cody stood up, lost her footing and fell backwards.

"As far as we know at this stage it's just a tragic accident but I'm waiting to hear from [police] today," Mr Armson said.
