The Sandy Lane site’s previous record was surpassed as a result of a dedicated program designed to improve workplace safety and efficiency.
The program, implemented by the site’s Safety Coordinator, Mr Wayne Eccles and his team, has resulted in only four days LTI this financial year in comparison to eight days LTI last year, and 16 the year before.
Mr Eccles attributes improved safety across the site down to a dedicated approach by all of the staff at Sandy Lane.
“Improved housekeeping, regular toolbox meetings, an increase in staff training, and an increase in the identifications of hazards have all contributed to this great result,” he said.
“The OH&S committee have also played a major role in improving workplace safety. The committee, which is made up of representatives from across the Sandy Lane site, meets once a month and is committed to improving all aspects of safety,” Mr Eccles said.
Sandy Lane’s Operations Manager, Mr Peter Herde said, “This is a great achievement, one of which we can all be proud. I would like to congratulate every member of the team on their commitment to improved safety and workplace efficiency.”
