The King Air aircraft and pilot were provided by Willmott Forests, with Viv Fleming, Tony Garnock, Keith Bent, Doug Rutherford and Max Welch all climbing aboard.

They were joined by Viv’s daughter, Vivienne Wall and pilot, Max Quartermain, who accompanied them on the outing, with all enjoying morning tea also supplied by Willmott Forests.

In further local generosity, a series of business houses provided funds to allow for the group to be transported to the War Memorial itself once in Canberra, and to enjoy lunch during their trip.

Thanks goes to Willmott Forests, the Bombala RSL Club, the RSL Sub-Branch, IGA Bombala, Delegate Cafe, Delegate Hotel, Murphy’s Transport and Supplies, Bombala Foodworks, and Motel Maneroo for contributing, with all left over funds being donated to the War Memorial.

The five local veterans had a sensational day touring through the fascinating exhibits on show at the museum, and reflecting on their own experiences serving their country.
