Operating from the professional consulting rooms at the new Bombala Hospital, the service will be run by Sapphire Coast Physiotherapy.
Karen Donaldson, a local Bombala resident and wife of one of Bombala’s ambulance officers, will be the principal physiotherapist.
Karen has a Myotherapy (massage) degree, an Exercise Physiology degree, and a Masters degree in Physiotherapy. She worked at the Bega District Hospital and Queanbeyan Hospital before giving birth to her son, Will, 9 months ago.
“I’m delighted that the residents of Bombala will again have a full physiotherapy service available in the town, saving many the need to travel to towns like Cooma or Bega to receive their treatment,” Karen told the Bombala Times.
“And this is a significant step towards Bombala being able to offer its residents a full range of medical services.
“I’m equally delighted that it is being offered as part of Sapphire Coast Physiotherapy.
“Their extensive, established resources will ensure that a high level of service can be maintained when I’m away on holidays or if I need time off for any other reason.
“And being a part of Sapphire Coast Physiotherapy will, thankfully, relieve me of many necessary - but time consuming - administrative tasks associated with running a practice.
“I look forward to welcoming anyone in need of physiotherapy to our new clinic. No referral is necessary. Appointments can be made by phoning 6495 2281.”
The Sapphire Coast Physiotherapy clinic at Bombala will operate initially on Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 5pm.
Clients will be able to access EFTPOS at the clinic and claim appropriate on-the-spot rebates for their physiotherapy from private health funds.
