REPRESENTATIVES of hospital auxiliaries from Bega, Bombala, Braidwood, Tathra, Cooma, Moruya, Pambula-Merimbula, Dalgety and Batemans Bay gathered at the Bega Bowling Club on Friday for a United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW zone day.
Officially opening the meeting, the Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, praised the work of the auxiliaries and thanked members for the effort and support they give to their local hospitals.
"The contribution you all make to our hospital system is first rate, particularly as you are all volunteers."
Mr Constance said the volunteer commitment in the region was 10 per cent higher than the State average.
He thanked outgoing general manager of the Bega Valley cluster, Narelle Davis, for the time she had given.
"It's been a difficult process, but Narelle has been pro-active in involving the community, especially in regard to the new heath facility in the Bega Valley."
Mr Constance said the new facility would not only benefit the Bega Valley Shire but shires beyond.
He promised to continue to fight for the very best health service in his electorate.
During the day reports were received from all the branchs and the Tathra and Bega reports will be published in Friday's edition.
Fundraising issues, insurance and other auxiliary business was discussed during both the morning and afternoon sessions.
